Hello Everyone:
You are all doing a great job. Thank you for your work on the
web site. However I tried to send pre comments before the
reunion on the site but it seems to not be working. Please read
my comments at the Reunion if you like.
I was happy to see my picture at the top in the previous 10th
reunion pictures. I still look the same...I think? Just more
gray on what hair is remaining. I do not remember being there Ha
Ha.
Anyway sorry I cannot be there with all of you but I am stuck in
Florida. No Oil here in St. Petersburg.
I survived the great oil leak. Ha Ha. To make extra money in my
old age I will sell tar balls or oil blobs...Any orders would be
appreciated. All proceeds go toward the Tom Ward Retirement
Trust Fund. It is non profit!
I do not remember to much about High School other than my Senior
year consular who's name I do not remember..advised me not to go
to college as I would never pass. Of course I never opened one
book in High School ... really...and had just barely
passed. Somehow I did go to college and even obtained a few
Degrees... a BS in Metallurgical Engineering and a MBA from
Baldwin Wallace college. Did I spell that right?
I have lived in Florida since 1990 along with my kids and my
wife of 25 years Hemmi. My first wife Diane also lives one
city away with her husband. What a small world!
Here in Florida I spend time walking the beach and playing the
stock market and drinking.
I hope everyone has a great time. I know you will miss the life
of the party...me.
Warmest Regards to All.
Thomas H. Ward, Class of 65
I will accept emails at

PS I have written 2 books Letters of Credit and Documentary
Collections and Small Business Accounting Tools, which are great
reading for any other nerds out there. They can be found on line
at Amazon.

8/5/2010 Okay, if Tom Ward can use the list serve to hawk his books I can’t resist the chance. I have a book that just came out from Praeger Press – Queer Questions, Clear Answers: The Contemporary Debates on Sexual Orientation. It was released in May and can be found at www.barnesandnoble.com (It’s cheaper here) Below are two testimonials on the book and I have attached a flyer we’re using in promoting it. Tom (Thomas) Serwatka 904 866 7732 TESTIMONIALS
In
Queer Questions, Clear Answers, Tom Serwatka looks at the
issues that keep dividing us on this topic. Throughout the pages of
his book he offers us the tools we need to carry on an open and
honest dialogue – a dialogue aimed at building understanding and
respect for each other."

Gayle:
I hope you are doing well and having fun with the
Reunion plans. "Fun" may not be quite the
right term in the midst of the final days! You guys
are doing a fantastic job (and have for a number of
years!!!!) Is there anything that I can do to
help? Do you need name tag badges "stuffed" or any
other mundane task that would be helpful?
Looking forward to it. I feel so bummed that I
missed the 40th as there seems to have been so many
who were there who hadn't been at one of the earlier
Reunions. And then to have missed last year's
picnic and the gathering at John's gravesite on
Memorial Day! I just rarely go to Facebook. I
should make a point of going there periodically.
Have a great day!
Bob

There once was a class of young
Rangers
Who parted not much more than strangers.
But getting old leaves us
with stories to tell.
And loneliness is the quintessence of hell. So let's spill our guts and remember how well We've responded to all of life's dangers. Go team
************************************************************** 8/10/2010 First I would like to extend my thanks to Tim, members of the committee, and all of you who have continuously worked on keeping this fine tradition ongoing and a success. I have strong ties to Lakewood. My grand parents and my parents spent most of their lives residing in Lakewood. Upon my fathers return from the war in Europe my parents built a house in Berea. I attended catholic schools there until we moved back to Lakewood the summer before I started High school. I found Lakewood High an exciting and challenging place, and can honestly say that I really enjoyed my high school years there. My uncle was an executive with Pick n Pay supermarkets at the time and at my request he arranged an after school job for me at the Puritas Ave. store, consequently although I worked with a large group of young people that I really had fun with at the store I regret that I did not get involved in after school activities. Remember "Careers Days"? Shortly after hearing Architect Nick Lesko give a talk on Architecture I went to his office with examples of my drawings from Mr. Scotts drafting class and ask him for a job. He hired me and I started working at his office on East 9th Street that summer right after graduation. I continued working for Architectural firms in the Cleveland area until 1981 when I was offered a job to work in Fort Lauderdale. No brainer… it was January in Cleveland… I took it and worked in Southeast Florida for (3) years including (2) years for the Saudi Royal Family. Now living on South Beach, I met Debbie one day while windsurfing and diving. Deb was in her last year at Dartmouth college so we moved up here to the Dartmouth - Lake Sunapee region and Deb finished her senior year. I stayed and traded my wind surfer for alpine skis. I have been here in Lebanon, NH since that time except for a (3) year period in the late 80’s when I moved back to Lakewood to work for a large Cleveland architectural firm. At which time my oldest daughter was living with me and graduated from Lakewood High School. In the early 90’s I took an interest in the local community here in Lebanon, and got involved. Since then I have served as the Chairman of the Planning Board, (4) terms as Mayor, and (4) terms as NH State Representative. Fascinating experience! But requires a 24/7 commitment and (10) years was enough. So, by example, I’m currently showing my support for term limits. The last couple of years I have been spending much more time in the Cleveland area with family. I’m looking forward to meeting some of you at the class reunion and hearing what your lives have been like.

Hi Gay - sorry it's taken me so
long to get back to you. Hope all is well! I'm
sure you are incredibly busy planning this
reunion. Had it on our calendar for weeks it
seems but as it turns out we need to be doing
babysitting duty the whole weekend for our
grandkids as their parents move everything into
their new house. We had promised to help the
kids out but unfortunately the move had to be
postponed by two weeks which landed it right on
our reunion weekend. Hope you all have a ball
there. Will definitely be there for the 50th -
isn't it unbelievable that's it been that many
years.
Have many fond memories of our
years at LHS and my memories of you date way
back to our years at McKinley and sleepovers at
your house across the street! I also have many
good memories of your mom who I always liked so
much!!! Have fun this weekend and please say
"hi" to everyone for me! Nancy

In the Fall of our Junior Year, the school sponsored a dance following a football game. Because there was a rule against doing “The Twist”, very calm music was provided by a “big band” type group. That night, a rock group called the XL’s tried to organize an open air dance in protest across from the school in the parking lot. Hundreds turned out. The leader of the XL’s was pulled by the scruff of his neck by the police and told to disperse the crowd or else go to jail. He complied. He told everyone to leave peacefully. The crowd groaned…until he suggested they instead go to the school dance and stage a sit-in. The school dance ended up with record attendance that night. ![]()
