I just wanted to thank all on the committee!! It was a wonderful time!! I did not get to thank all of you for your hard work.

It was great seeing all the people from high school. I had to leave in a hurry, babysitter was having a problem with my granddaughter!! , and daughter was at Browns game and probably couldn't hear
her phone!! Loved seeing all of you!!

To Joanne, Jacquie, Lynda, Gay, Tim, Bev and Sherry,

Thank so much for this terrific reunion.  Not only did we have a great time, but I learned a lot as well about other people and myself.  Let's do this next weekend.

Great party.
Good to see everyone again and hear how well you're doing.
Special thanks to all those who put everything together, from name tags to web sites.

Is it true that every second Friday of the month is LHS Class of '65 night at Hoolihans patio?

Thanks again to all for making the effort to be there.

8/15/2005  From Bob Bartholomew   rbartholomew@isp.com

It is a couple days after one of the best reunions ever and I want to thank the fabulous 6 ladies (Gayle, Lynda, Jacquie, Sherry, Bev and Joanne) for the terrific job they did in arranging both nights and the tour and for tracking down as many classmates as they could - my deepest gratitude. I think everyone there had a wonderful and memorable time!

We all get up in the morning and look in the mirror and wonder --
What happened?!?!   But on Friday and Saturday nights my mind played some tricks on me, and for a short time my classmates and I had, not the older, but distinguished, faces we now carry, but the faces that were on the nametags we wore. As we talked and laughed and thought about the times past, we transformed back to the carefree kids we were in 1965. It was fantastic!!!

I also want to thank Tim Householder for this terrific Web page he created and promised to keep up until the next reunion. You deserve the best of cudos for an outstanding effort!!!

I truly hope that those of us who became reacquainted will stay in touch, and the Web page can make it happen.

God Bless all of you and keep the 45th on your calendar!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of you wonderful people who put together this great 40th reunion from kindergarten, oops, I mean high school.  It was such a terrific evening.  It was fun to get out on the dance floor to do the Twist.  As I gyrated, forgetting it is 2005 not 1965, I felt a twinge here and a cramp there.  Heck, we USED to do this all night long.  It was all so much fun and at a great place.  The casual dress was very much appreciated.  Only 1,823
more days until our next reunion.  Maybe I can lose weight by then if I start now.

Hi, all

Thanks to Lynda, Jacquie, Joanne, Sherry, Bev and, of course, Gayle for all for your dedication and hard work.  Special thanks go to Tim Householder for the website!

The reunion was a great success!  I had a wonderful time…here is where I digress… I then wanted to say “and it was great to see old friends.”  The problem is that I had just used “great” in the previous sentence.  Miss Kleinmeyer would never allow two “greats” that close together.  I then checked the computer thesaurus for synonyms and found two—“cool” and “groovy.” Perfect!!  I had a groovy time and it was cool to see old friends!

I’m enclosing a check for the internet.  Hopefully everyone will give
generously.  If that happens, like the aero squadrons of old, the last person standing can crack a bottle of Dom Perignon and host a toast to the Class of 65 before turning off the computer.  If we collect less money, the toast might end up being tap water.  All well and good, but the third scenario is the most obvious—we’re going to have to take up another collection later because we Boomers are going to live forever!

Those of us who worked on the High Times remember advisor J. Clark West as a wonderful teacher who fostered the highest journalism standards as well as a life-long love of puns in his students.  Amy Richards had the idea of honoring his memory through a gift to the high school—possibly a journalism scholarship.
In the coming months, Amy and I will be looking into this prospect.

While I’m thinking about gifts, I wonder if our class—the landmark Class of ‘65—might want to do something for our 50th.  Bob Smith would be the first to tell you about the Woody Hayes philosophy of “paying forward.”  Maybe we can help ensure that future generations of LHS students have a “groovy” time, too.

Jacquie, Sherry, Bev, Tim, Joanne, Gay, and Linda,

You guys did a wonderful job!  I had a great time and really appreciate all the time and effort that went into planning the event.  It was so much fun that I think we (or rather you) should do it again!

Please extend my thanks to all who helped.

Where does one begin?

First, and foremost, all you gals that put the event together...I tip my hat to you all!  All of you did an outstanding job!  Thanks for all your effort and hard work!

Tim, great website!  Bless you for allowing all of us to check in and see what has and is happening!  Where do we send money to keep the site going?

Have to say, I wasn't too keen on coming to a "40th reunion"...I am so glad that my good friend... Jacquie Davis... kept after me!  I wasn't sure that I wanted to see how much we had changed over the past 40 years...but, much to my surprise...I was delighted to be there...salt n' pepper hair and all!

I could write a long list of names of whom I was happy to see and to be able to catch up with what has been happening in their lives...All of you that attended, and that I actually got to speak to, seem happy, healthy, and full of spirit. Truly GREAT seeing you all!!!

Again...Thanks to all that made our reunion an evening to remember... the best!

Big cheers to you all!

It has been a couple of weeks since the reunion, and I have to say that it was the most enjoyable one yet. It was very bittersweet for me, because that same week Hayes School went under the wrecking ball. I'm sure we all have very special and fond memories of grade school, but there was just something almost magical about those years and Hayes and our classmates. I'm sure the new school
will be fresh and new and asbestos-free and technologically up to date, but Hayes will live in my heart forever.

Thanks to the reunion committee--you did an awesome job! Everything--from the location to the decorations to the DJ to the food--was great.

And the tour of LHS on Saturday morning was really a walk down memory lane. Thanks, too, for arranging that.

Since my whole family still lives in Lakewood, North Olmsted, Parma, and Seven Hills, I come that way often and am looking forward to the next reunion.

Blessings to you all!

I'm not sure how I found my way to this site but I'm delighted I did.  Thanks to everyone who sent pictures, wrote messages, and worked so hard to make it all happen.  I wish I could have been there.

I’m looking forward to the next reunion.  I hope that all those who always work so hard to put it all together won’t burn out before I have a chance to attend another.

It was a great pleasure to see the pictures. I went to Lincoln Elementary School and to Horace Mann Junior High. The picture of the Horace Mann class has me in it (back row, middle left). I only got to attend Lakewood High for one year (1962-63). I was in the Berg Society and participated on the Debate Team with Denny Behl, Bob Fawcett, Tom Serwatka (spelling?) and our great coach, Richard ("Zippy") Sinzinger. I was glad to find Rick's email and to learn from Janet (Haas) Gore that he is a physician. I would love to hear from Denny or Tom, of course. The link that is posted for Tom is no longer functional. Denny's campaign poster was fun to see. Mostly I remember the old gang from Horace Mann. Where is Cherry Cullen (spelling?)? Janet (Haas) Gore also told me that Andrea ("Andy") Stiickeny is married and lives in Aurora, Ohio. (I am not even sure if she ever went to Lakewood High; she was at Lincoln Elementary.) I live in the small town of Guelph, Ontario (population about 110,000). It is close to Toronto, in case anyone is coming up this way. I have been a university teacher for most of my life. I recently got Full Professor. Better late than never! My first wife, Madeline Gray, and I had a son, Thoreau ("Theo") Bakker.

He is living in Brooklyn, N.Y., and working in Manhattan as a sound technician. He has been writing music and is a Club DJ. He and I wrote an article together on "The Club DJ." As a sociologist I now get to research and write about pretty much anything I am interested. But during the first stage of my professional career I did a lot of work in Indonesia. Madeline and I divorced about twenty-two years ago. For the last thirteen years I have been married to J. Heidi Gralinski-Bakker of Boston. She is also an academic, but a psychologist rather than a sociologist!

It would be fun to chat with anyone who remembers me.
